2014 WEC GT Pro champion Vilander returns

Toni Vilander, who won the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans and the FIA World Endurance Cup for GT Drivers that same season, will team up with Davide Rigon in Bird’s absence.

AF Corse’s No.71 Ferrari 488 GTE will feature a familiar face at the 6 Hours of Nürburgring, in place of Sam Bird.

Toni Vilander, who won the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans and the FIA World Endurance Cup for GT Drivers that same season, will team up with Davide Rigon in Bird’s absence.  The Finn, 36, will be working to close the 9-point gap between Ford and Ferrari in the GT FIA World Endurance Manufacturers Championship.

“I’m happy to be able to return to the FIA WEC with the 488 GTE of AF Corse team”, Toni Vilander stated, making his return after to the championship for the first time since the end of 2015.  “This is my chance to cancel the disappointment of the 24 Hours of Le Mans [the No.82 Risi Ferrari did not finish following an accident] as soon as possible.

“I will give all I have to achieve the best possible result at Nürburgring, to help Ferrari in the Manufacturers’ Championship and Davide Rigon in the Drivers’ rankings.”
