Daytona GTLM result a prelude to 2017

After 24 long hours, over half of which were held under driving rain, the GTLM (GTE Pro) race came down to a showdown in the final two hours, with the top seven in the class finishing within seven seconds of each other.

A taste of WEC GTE competition to come in 2017?  Absolutely!

Ford Chip Ganassi Racing repeated its 2016 win at the Le Mans 24 Hours, but the marque was shadowed all the way by Porsche’s new 911 RSR making its debut race and the Ferrari 488 GTE.   Porsche’s Patrick Pilet held off Ferrari’s James Calado by 0.091 seconds to secure the second spot on the podium and had everyone on the edge of their seats.

Congratulations to Ford and all the WEC drivers in the race who fought so hard for victory, especially Porsche’s Michael Christensen who claimed victory in the GTD category.
