Porsche LMP Team Principal, Andreas Seidl, spoke to the media following the 6 Hours of Shanghai at which the German manufacturer claimed its third successive world title.

“It is a great story to win these titles and all these races since we started in 2014. Taking the titles in Shanghai is a big release for me and the entire team. It has not been easy over the last month, especially since the announcement was made that we will stop at the end of the season.

“We are really happy it has worked out because when you get a big gap [in the points] like we managed in the mid-season, sometimes you only think what can then go wrong.  So it is a relief to have finally got over the line.

“We have to thank everyone back home in Weissach because of the sensational work they have done again. We had to strike back big time after Le Mans and it paid off, especially with the races immediately after Le Mans. Big thanks too to the race team at the track for delivering when there was all this pressure.

“Also, big respect to our six drivers because what they have done this year is sensational and there was some great team work between the two cars, with some stunning performances race by race and not making any mistakes. We will now concentrate on Bahrain where we will have some flat out racing between four LMP1 cars.”
