What the Drivers said after qualifying at Silverstone....

Pole winning driver quotes from the post-qualifying press conference at the 6 Hours of Silverstone.

Kamui Kobayashi – No.7 Toyota Gazoo Racing, LMP1

“I think the lap was brilliant and it is difficult to say where I could have gained. Up until qualifying it was quite difficult to say where we were, because it is always a bit of a mystery to know where you are until qualifying.

“We made a good lap time and the car was really brilliant. The team made a great effort and the lap was really good. What we have in the car is good and start from pole is important to have a good race for tomorrow."

Mike Conway – No.7 Toyota Gazoo Racing, LMP1

“The lap that got deleted was at the limit at turn nine so it was a shame but I had traffic on that lap, so I had to go again but I had enough to go quicker and keep the pole. It was an amazing lap from Kamui and he set the standard high.

“It was a good job by the team and as Kamui said it was hard to know where you are going to be in qualifying. The track evolution helped but it’s a good start and we have one point on the board.

“We have to play the weather by ear really, we have done a lot of testing on different tyres but we will do the best we can and we can stay at the front.”

Alex Lynn – No.26 G-Drive Racing, LMP2

“I as quite surprised actually to see the lap time pop up on my dash but I knew I was on a good one. Thanks to the team, the car was fantastic and we made a big step from FP3 into qualifying.  Then I think Pierre did a really good job as we only used one set of tyres, and a lot of our rivals, I think, didn’t do that so we have even more of an advantage for tomorrow.  Hopefully we can do a good job."

Pierre Thiriet – No.26 G-Drive Racing, LMP2

“It was very good and we have worked a lot as a team. We had a very good car today. To be honest Alex did an amazing job today and I just finished the job of Alex, so thank you to the team and the engineers because we had so much grip, but it was difficult for me to use it in a good way and to do the best.”

Andy Priaulx – No.67 Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK, LMGTE Pro

“It was a really good lap and it hooked up well. This morning we found a really nice balance with the car and we are just pushing at 100%. It’s nice just to do everything possible and to bring the lap together and the team were perfect with (tyre) pressures and we hit all the marks and it was a good feeling on the low fuel.

"We look very strong, and I am really happy with where we are at. We are also set up nicely for the race as well.”

Harry Tincknell – No.67 Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK, LMGTE Pro

“We were going into quali knowing we had a good race car but you are never quite sure where you are in GTE Pro and even now maybe.

“We worked really well through our programme yesterday and today. Andy did a really fantastic job on the first lap, then he handed over to me and I had to finish the job off. We worked on the car overnight and we are starting from the best place which is nice as we have a lot of Ford employees coming tomorrow.”

Pedro Lamy – No.98 Aston Martin Racing, LMGTE Am

“It was a good lap and I pushed to the maximum that was possible, the team did a good job and we had a fast car but really Paul did the difference because the Ferrari was a little bit quicker than me by one tenth.

“But then Paul turned it around and did a great lap and we managed to get the pole.”

Paul Dalla Lana – No.98 Aston Martin Racing, LMGTE Am

“We are always happy for an Aston Martin Racing home race pole position. We have some new teams and cars here in our class this season so it will be interesting.

“The ever modest Pedro (Lamy) is easy to follow because he is so good. It is going to be interesting this season and I think it will be really close here tomorrow and the weather could make the difference and spice it up.”
