PORSCHE 1-2 AFTER TWO HOURS

  • Brendon Hartley stars in first two hours as he opens large gap in No.1 Porsche 919 Hybrid before handing over to Timo Bernhard just before the end of second hour
  • No.1 car loses time though at second pit stop with front nose change after debris damage
  • Second place for championship leading No.2 Porsche 919 Hybrid as Jani and Lieb make progress from sixth placed start
  • No.8 Audi third but out of sequence after re-fuelling issue
  • Toyota place fourth and fifth with No.6 leading No.5 TS 050 by just 2-seconds
  • No.30 ESM Ligier-Nissan leads LMP2
  • Ford 1-2 in LMGTE Pro with No.67 heading No.66 Ford GT
  • No.98 Aston Martin leads majority of first two hours in LMGTE Am

STORY OF THE RACE SO FAR……

  • Buemi takes lead from pole sitter Hartley but lead lasts under a lap as No.1 Porsche blasts back through
  • Safety Car called on lap one after Matthias Beche spins his Manor ORECA and is hit by Richie Stanaway’s Aston Martin. Beche retires, Stanaway pits for repairs but car eventually retired as damage too extensive to repair in time
  • Di Grassi’s No.8 Audi R18 takes second place in action packed re-start
  • Toyota pair fight with No.2 Porsche but Neel Jani finds a way past both as No.5 Toyota struggles with a boost problem
  • Jani goes after Di Grassi and eventually gets ahead in second hour after Di Grassi is forced into pits early after refuelling rig problem. No.8 Audi drops back to an out-of-sequence sixth place behind struggling No.7 Audi R18 driven by Andre Lotterer in first two stints
  • Alex Brundle in G-Drive ORECA overtakes Nicolas Lapierre’s Signatech Alpine to lead in LMP2
  • G-Drive Racing car pulls clear of Nicolas Lapierre who has off-track moment after incident with James Calado’s AF Corse Ferrari
  • No.30 ESM Ligier-Nissan places third after stints Antonio Giovinazzi but moves in to lead after second stops as other cars change drivers
  • Local favourites Baxi DC Racing Alpine lose time after collision with No.88 Porsche at hairpin
  • Rebellion Racing lead LMP1 Privateer class for first 90-minutes but then wheeled back in to garage with a problem. ByKolles takes lead with Simon Trummer at wheel
  • Ford in control of LMGTE Pro as Andy Priaulx leads early stages in No.67 Ford Chip Ganassi Ford GT.
  • No.66 Ford GT of Stefan Mucke takes second place from Bruni’s No.51 AF Corse Ferrari 488GTE
  • Delays for No.71 AF Corse after early race puncture from first corner accident debris
  • Ben Barker leads early laps in Gulf Porsche but gets penalty for a jump start and hands lead to Pedro Lamy’s No.98 Aston Martin.
  • Paul Dalla Lana takes over at the wheel and continues in lead from the Abu-Dhabi Proton Porsche driven by Khaled Al Qubaisi
