Brundle steps up to LMP1 with CEFC TRS Racing for Super Season

Alex Brundle will race for the CEFC TRSM Racing squad in the full FIA World Endurance Championship Super Season.

Brundle, who made his WEC debut in 2013 with OAK Racing, will join Oliver Rowland and an as yet to be revealed teammate in the all-new No.6 Ginetta G60-LT-P1 Mechachrome entry.

“I am delighted to be racing with CEFC TRSM in the Ginetta and am looking forward to my first track time here at the Prologue this week,” said Brundle.

“The move in to LMP1 racing is something I have been looking at for a while and I think I am one of the only guys, along with Thomas Laurent, to have come up from LMP3 racing through LMP2 and now in to the top class.”

27 year-old Brundle was one of the stars of the LMP2 class last season with the Jackie Chan DC Racing team as he spearheaded their remarkable third place overall and second in LMP2 at Le Mans.

Now, Brundle is fully focused on his new role as a key developer of the Ginetta-Mechachrome package with CEFC TRSM Racing.  “It is a new and highly talented group of people I will be working with but actually I know some of them from previous things I’ve been involved with,” he said.

“There is a great bunch of engineers and leaders at Manor and Ginetta and the car looks terrific. The undertaking to get an LMP1 project up and running is massive.

“It is far above and beyond getting an LMP2 programme together because everything is manufactured and developed by the manufacturer. It is a massive project and for the drivers offers big opportunity because all of a sudden you can be a significant part of the development and make continuous improvements.”

Brundle, who completed his seat fitting with the team yesterday, will meet his new teammate Oliver Rowland at Paul Ricard today.
“Oliver obviously has a very good pedigree and I am sure he will be a major force in LMP1 straight from the off, I am sure we can form a great team between us all.”
