Bruno Senna on Sebring: “It’s going to be a tough race”
Fresh from a win at the recent Lone Star Le Mans, the No. 1 Rebellion R13 Gibson entry driven by Bruno Senna, Norman Nato and Gustavo Menezes will be eager to take a third win of the season at Sebring in Florida.
Round 6 of the FIA WEC takes place at the legendary Sebring International Raceway in just over two weeks’ time (18-20 March) but Senna explained it won’t be plain sailing for the Swiss-based team.
“It’s going to be a tough race,” confirmed Brazil’s Senna. “One of our biggest issues are bumpy tracks and it doesn’t get much bumpier than Sebring but we’ll take what we learned from the SuperSeason and hopefully we can improve there and have a good race. I absolutely love this circuit but the pleasure of driving at Sebring really depends on how the car is reacting!”
Last week it was announced that Rebellion Racing will also enter a second car at this year’s WEC Super Finale, the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.
“Data wise and information wise, it’s so much better to have the second car for later in the season,” explained 36-year-old Senna. “For us, we’ve had the one car until now and so far it’s helped us focus on getting everything done. The team have been organised and fixed most of the issues we’ve had so I think if we can continue with that sort of service everything should be fine for Le Mans.”
He added: “Reliability wise, it is also super important for us to have a strong race at Sebring so that we know we are better prepared for Le Mans.”
Rebellion Racing are currently second in the overall LMP1 standings, 33 points adrift of Toyota Gazoo Racing. With a total points-haul of 38 points available at Sebring, the Swiss team will be looking for another win to close in on the Japanese team at the top of the leaderboard.
