After the final chequered flag on track, it was time to present the prizes to the winners at the end of season ceremony...

The tenth season of the FIA World Endurance Championship was celebrated in fine fashion last night on the beach of the Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa, just moments away from the Bahrain International Circuit, location for the final race of the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship.

The Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain saw titles decided as the race ran into the night on Saturday when Toyota were crowned as Hypercar FIA World Endurance Manufacturers Champions and Ferrari took the final title in the LMGTE FIA World Endurance Manufacturers Championship.

Sunday evening’s event saw a crowd all dressed in white to watch the ceremony presented by Louise Beckett and 2014 World Endurance Drivers' Champion Anthony Davidson.

With a welcome speech from ACO President, Pierre Fillon, highlighting the ten years of the WEC and the centenary status of next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, the ceremony saw awards presented by Fillon and FIA Commission President Richard Mille as well as representatives from Goodyear, Michelin and Bahrain International Circuit.

Rolex watches were presented to the winning Hypercar drivers and a number of special awards were made, with trophies for Revelation of the Year, Personality of the Year, Gentleman of the Year and a Ten Year Award for Toyota, as well as a Special Prize for Christian Ried.

The event was attended by the WEC paddock as well as special invitees, with the theme of guests being dressed in white. They were treated to a spectacular showcase of the World Endurance Championship, with the title winning cars shown on stage and the overall title winning Toyota GR010 – Hybrid rising from beneath the floor at the end of the event.

The ceremony also heralded all the personnel behind the scenes, appropriately enough taking place on the FIA’s Volunteers and Officials Weekend.

The event was closed by World Endurance Championship CEO Frédéric Lequien and WEC thanks all its fans, competitiors and particularly its partners; Rolex, TotalEnergies, Motul, Michelin, DHL, Goodyear and euronews and Champagne Pommery for their support in 2022.
