Congratulations to the 2020 ELMS Champions!
Over the weekend, the final round of the 2020 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) was staged in Portimão, Portugal.
United Autosports had already been declared champions in LMP2 at Monza after a dominant season with drivers Phil Hanson and Filipe Albuquerque. However, the British team also secured the LMP3 title after Rob Wheldon, Tom Gamble and Wayne Boyd won in Portugal to become the 2020 LMP3 Champions.
Elsewhere, the LMGTE team and drivers titles couldn’t have been any closer as rivals Proton Competition and Kessel Racing finished first and second at the weekend. The two teams were tied on 99 points but Proton Competition Porsche (Christian Ried, Michele Beretta and Alessio Picariello) were declared champions due to the fact they had won the first race of the season at Paul Ricard.
