Driver swaps for this weekend’s 6 Hours of Monza

There have been a few last minute driver swaps ahead of this weekend’s 6 Hours of Monza, round three of the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship.

In LMP2, Dutchman Nyck de Vries will replace Job van Uitert, who tested positive for COVID-19 last week ahead of the ELMS race.

De Vries will return to the cockpit of the No. 29 Racing Team Nederland Oreca 07 – Gibson, a team he is very familiar with having competed with them for WEC Season 8 – where he helped achieve the squad’s first class win at Fuji in 2019.

In LMGTE Am, Sarah Bovy will make her debut in the WEC this weekend at the wheel of the No. 85 Iron Lynx Ferrari 488 GTE Evo. The Belgian driver will replace Manuela Gostner as the team’s designated Bronze-rated driver.

Elsewhere in LMGTE Am, American driver Max Root will join Team Project 1 in its No. 46 Team Project 1 Porsche 911 RSR. He will drive alongside Anders Buchardt and Dennis Olsen – the car making a welcome return following a heavy crash during round one at Spa-Francorchamps.

Root is no stranger to endurance Racing having shared a Ferrari 488 GTE Evo with Jan Magnussen and Richard Heistand at last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
