FIA releases updated driver categorisation list for 2015

The FIA Driver Categorisation is the basis for all FIA Championships that use a driver ‘rating’ system such as the World Endurance Championship, and it can be adopted by any series.  Drivers are rated as Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze.

The initial categorisation is based on the driver's age and career record, which may be adjusted in subsequent seasons according to the recorded race pace and results of the series that are using the categorisation system.

The 2015 list has just been released by the FIA, and no doubt many teams are now poring over it to establish what their optimum pairings or line ups will be for next season.  If a driver disagrees with the category awarded to him, he alone has the right to appeal against it within a set period of time.

The list will apply for drivers competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship, European Le Mans Series, TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, Asian Le Mans Series, Blancpain GT Series and a number of other European championships.  For more specific details about the ratings, click HERE
