From Le Mans 24 hours to Le Mans Classic for WEC drivers.

 

 

One week after the Goodwood Festival of Speed, lovers of classic cars can enjoy the 10th anniversary of Le Mans Classic, with no less than 450 vintage cars on the track, some of the hands of drivers entered in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The cars, built between 1923 and 1979, are divided into six grids. Of the drivers of the World Championship, it's Nick Leventis (HPD No.21 of Strakka) who will drive the oldest car, an Aston Martin DBR1 from 1957 entered in grid 3 (cars from 1957 to 1961). It is followed by Argentina's Luis Perez-Companc (Oreca 03-Nissan # 49 of Pecom Racing) in ​​an AC Cobra Daytona Coupe of 1965 in grid 4 (cars from 1962 to 1965).

Grid 5 (cars from 1966 to 1971) will pit Fabien Giroix (Lola-Nissan No.28 Middle East Gulf Racing) in ​​a Porsche 908/3, 1971, Soheil Ayari, team mate of Luis Perez-Companc in the World Championship, driving a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 1972 and Jacques Nicolet (Morgan-Judd No.24 OAK Racing) in the cockpit of a Costin Nathan 1000 GT 1967. All three drivers compete in the LMP2 class at the World Championships and will be on the long '24 hours' circuit to do battle for the second time in three weeks!

Jacques Nicolet take to the track in grid 6 (cars from 1972 to 1979) with a Duckham's LM 1972. He will face Emmanuel Collard and his Porsche 935 “Moby Dick” from 1978. The latest news is that Romain Dumas, deprived of the Pikes Peak hillclimb following the postponement of the event due to the fires that ravaged that region of the America. Dumas, who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2010, will share the wheel with Manfred Freisinger, who was his team manager when he won the 24 Hours of Spa in 2003 overall with a Porsche 911 from the smaller class.
