Fun and family entertainment for all at the 6 Hours of Silverstone
The FIA World Endurance Championship is back at Silverstone in a summer slot for a festival of sports car racing, and there’s more than ever on offer to entertain the whole family.
More cars, more racing, famous drivers including Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso, and lots to see and do on and off track. The 6 Hours of Silverstone (17-19th August) is the third round of the 14-month long Super Season, and a great opportunity to witness the warmth, openness and inclusivity of endurance racing and Le Mans in the UK.
There is a full weekend of FREE entertainment on offer with plenty to keep all the family enthralled during each day…for the young, the not-so-young, the active and not-so-active. Enjoy the 6 Hours of Silverstone both on and off track!
Meet the Drivers
Get an autograph, grab a ‘selfie’ or just shake hands with your favourite drivers including Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso, Bruno Senna, Anthony Davidson and GT stars Andy Priaulx, Darren Turner and James Calado during the autograph sessions. The ELMS Autograph Session will take place on Saturday and the WEC Autograph Session on Sunday morning.
WEC Tent - Fan Area
Situated just outside the main Wing paddock, the Fan area will feature the impressive big white WEC tent which will be open on Saturday and Sunday. This houses the Dynamic Cinema experience – feel as well as see a high-speed, fully immersive lap of Le Mans, a Pit Stop Challenge, Simulators, WEC School – a fun, easy-to-understand guide to the WEC. Also available for fans is the WEC’s unique Augmented Reality experiences which offer 360° videos of certain garages, selfies with your favourite drivers, maps, timetable and on site practical information…go on, give it a try!
Also free to fans will be tethered hot air balloon rides and a giant screen/seating area with commentary speakers to follow all the on-track action.
Fan Area Plus – more fun, more variety, more to do!
Racing Bug: A unique, mobile scale driving experience which engages visitors in competitive motor racing. You don’t just watch the action, you ARE the action!
Bungee Trampoline: This offers a safe extreme sport, accessible to adults and children alike. It comes complete with four launch pads, allowing you to jump effortlessly up to 10 metres high!
Bungee Run: Race against each other to see who can place the Velcro marker furthest along the centre wall before losing their footing. You will attach a body harness before attempting to run as far as you can before the bungee cord catapults you back to the start! Who’s the strongest, who can get the furthest?
Climbing Wall: Using state of the art Auto belay steel rope systems, you will be clipped in and able to climb the wall. Make it a race and be the first the push the buzzer at the top, before being lowered back to ground level.
Land Zorbs: Feel the thrill of running around in a giant ball crashing, rolling and wearing yourself out in a Land Zorb!
Vander Space Wheel: The quadruple Vander Space Wheel is a stunt wheel that will keep you completely mesmerised! Spectacular stunts include walking blindfolded on the outside of the wheel!
Face Painting: A firm favourite with the children, face painting and body art are available!
Combined Stunt Show: Moto Trials and Jump BMX will perform shows all demonstrated by world class professionals!
Fun Fair: A firm favourite, including carousel and dodgems!
Drone Workshop: MakoEducation’s introduction to Drone Racing gives budding pilots the chance to take to the skies and race a real drone in a fun, creative and safe environment.
During the activity, participants will learn how to control mini-drones to take off, fly, turn and even do stunts, before landing safely. They’ll even be given the opportunity to experience their flight through our VR headsets, for a fully immersive flying experience. Skills and reflexes will be put to the test as all new pilots are challenged to navigate around a race course in the fastest time possible.
Heilsa Therapies: Sit back and relax with a reflexology treatment, a seated back massage, or an Indian head massage. Go on, you know you deserve it!
THE 6 HOURS OF SILVERSTONE
As well as being the third round of the WEC Super Season, the weekend’s racing at Silverstone also includes the fourth round of the 2018 European Le Mans Series and three races from the FIA F3 Championship.
Tickets are now on sale for the 6 Hours of Silverstone from as little as £10 while a 3-day weekend pass costs just £50 per adult. Children 15 years and under are free and all tickets include car parking, unreserved grandstand access, autograph sessions, access to the entertainment area and lots more.
