Hypercar

  • In sunny and warm conditions, Antonio Giovinazzi in the #51 Ferrari AF Corse 499P set the fastest lap of the session with a best effort of 1:30.272s
  • That was 0.063s quicker than the sister #50 Ferrari AF Corse entry, with Antonio Fuoco posting the best time for the Qatar 1812km-winning car
  • Peugeot TotalEnergies ended the session third and best non-Ferrari, as Stoffel Vandoorne recovered from a trip through the Tamburello gravel to register a 1m31.670s in the #94 9X8 Hypercar the Belgian shares with Malthe Jakobsen and Loïc Duval
  • Cadillac made it three manufacturers in the top four as Sébastien Bourdais peaked with a 1m31.735s effort just before bringing out a Full Course Yellow when he spun the #38 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA car at the exit of the Tamburello chicane
  • There was also drama in the opening moments of the 60-minute session for the other Cadillac, as Alex Lynn crashed the #12 Hypercar at the first Rivazza corner, damaging the front of the gold machine
  • TOYOTA GAZOO Racing placed fifth with Ryō Hirakawa setting a time of 1m31.743s, just 0.008s shy of Bourdais. The #8 Toyota, however, had to sit out the final five minutes of the session after picking up a penalty for a Full Course Yellow infringement
  • Rounding out the top six was the #93 Peugeot TotalEnergies entry, with Jean-Éric Vergne setting the car’s fastest lap
  • Robert Kubica was forced to park his #83 AF Corse Ferrari 499P Hypercar at Piratella with a suspected gearbox issue, triggering a second red flag period to recover the yellow Ferrari
  • Further incidents also took place this morning, including Marco Sørenson enduring a gravelly episode at the Villeneuve complex before rejoining with an undamaged #009 Aston Martin Valkyrie

LMGT3

  • Akkodis ASP Lexus continued its rapid form and again topped the times as Esteban Masson impressively set a 1m42.852s lap
  • The French ace is deputising for the injured Ben Barnicoat this weekend and joins Arnold Robin and Finn Gehrsitz in the #78 Lexus
  • Masson’s time outpaced the Vista AF Corse Ferrari 296 LMGT3 of Alessio Rovera, who shares the #21 entry with Simon Mann and François Heriau; Davide Rigon was just 0.143secs adrift in the sister Ferrari in third
  • Team WRT ended the session in fourth position, with 2024 Imola LMGT3 winner Augusto Farfus setting a time of 1m43.259s in The Bend WRT BMW M4
  • Completing the top six were the #87 Akkodis ASP Lexus and #46 Team WRT BMW, with Clemens Schmid and Valentino Rossi respectively setting the times
  • Célia Martin spun the #85 Iron Dames Porsche at Tamburello, but the FIA WEC rookie recovered to complete her programme at the wheel

Qualifying is scheduled to begin at 14:30 CET, with LMGT3 out first ahead of the Hypercar class.
