Host of entertainment for fans at Spa-Francorchamps
The WEC Fan Zone and paddock at next week’s TOTAL 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps will feature a host of entertainment and activities for fans attending the penultimate round of the WEC Super Season.
Open from 1000 - 1700 on Friday and 0930 - 1930 on Saturday, the WEC Fan Zone will house several giant screens for spectators to watch the on-track action. There will be various food stalls and refreshments on offer throughout the race weekend. The Fan Zone will also benefit from a new location for 2019, beside the main grandstand which looks onto the start/finish straight.
A number of free activities will be happening in the Fan Zone including inflatables for children, a zip wire, car displays and even the opportunity to catch an aerial view of the circuit at the top of a crane.
The WEC tent will also be present in Spa-Francorchamps which includes simulators, a pit stop challenge, a phone charging hub and WEC’s Dynamic Cinema experience. The cinema will allow fans to experience an onboard lap of the legendary Le Mans circuit – as seen from the driver’s seat. There will also be an AR (Augmented Reality) section, where fans can take a 360 degree tour of the garage and snap a selfie with their favourite driver.
In order to experience the AR system to its full potential, individuals need to download the free FIA WEC app, find the totems scattered around the circuit and then go into the AR section on the app by using the ‘Scan me’ zap code found on the totems.
Finally, the WEC paddock will also be open to enable fans to see their favourite teams and drivers up close. Spectators can attend autograph driver sessions, experience a mini Scalextric as well as take part in the pit walk where a selection of WEC goodies will be distributed including sunglasses, flags, keyrings, stickers and caps.
