“I’m living my childhood dream!”: Insights from women in the FIA WEC paddock
AVIS – WEC’s official vehicle rental services premium partner – has released a new piece of content which follows three different women working in the FIA WEC paddock.
Filmed at this year's centenary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 6 Hours of Monza, the video includes exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes action focusing on three prominent females in the WEC: Doriane Pin (Iron Dames racing driver currently competing with LMP2 team Prema Racing), Sarah Smith (assistant team manager at GR Racing) and Lisa Weishard (ACO sporting delegate).
Doriane, Sarah and Lisa have very different roles and the video follows each of these women as they go about their day-to-day activities during a race weekend. From managing race control systems, supporting team members, general running of the team and driving the car – all three play a crucial role in their team's success.
In the typically male-dominated world of motorsport, more and more women are making their careers in the automotive industry each year and the WEC this year has a total of five full-time female racing drivers as well as numerous other women who work in the WEC paddock.
