Lamborghini will partner with Iron Lynx for their Hypercar official manufacturer team in the FIA World Endurance Championship from 2024.
Announced at the Super Trofeo Grand Final Prize Giving in Portimão, Lamborghini Chairman and CEO Stephan Winkelmann and Lamborghini Head of Motorsport Giorgio Sanna confirmed that Lamborghini Iron Lynx will lead Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s debut season racing with hybrid technology.
Technical and engineering support for the project will come from PREMA Engineering, a new consultancy division of PREMA Group, which will utilise its 30-year championship-winning racing expertise. As well as running in WEC, Lamborghini Iron Lynx will also contest the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2024.
“Ever since we announced our intention to race in the LMDh racing series, it was clear to us that Iron Lynx was the right partner to take such an important step with,” said Winkelmann.
“I am delighted to welcome the team to the Lamborghini family; over the years, Iron Lynx has proven to be a fast, strong and successful entity, just like the Lamborghini motorsport department.”
Commenting on today’s announcement, Deborah Mayer, Chairwoman of DC Racing Solutions Ltd. – the Swiss-based motorsport company which owns Iron Lynx, Iron Dames and PREMA – said: “I am really pleased that we can share the news about the partnership between Iron Lynx and Lamborghini, which marks a significant milestone for our group. Our championship-winning racing pedigree, combined with the successful motorsport heritage of Lamborghini, will create the perfect mix to deliver a highly-competitive performance on track. I am looking forward to this next chapter.”
