Britain’s Ross Gunn ready for WEC debut
Aston Martin’s talented youngster Ross Gunn is set to make his FIA WEC debut at Silverstone next week, making the step up from ELMS.
Hailing from High Wycombe near London, the 22-year-old has since set up residence just down the road from Silverstone circuit.
Joining a potent trio of Darren Turner and Paul Dalla Lana in the No.98 Aston Martin Racing Vantage, Gunn has his sights firmly on showcasing his talents on the world stage for WEC Season 8.
“The expectation is to do the best job we possibly can at all times,” explains Gunn. “I’m very hungry to deliver immediately, and my co-drivers and I will want to be taking victories. It’s a great season to make my debut in the championship with so many LMGTE Am entries.
“There’s a lot of variety - a lot of strong, world-class drivers, and I’m excited to put myself up against them. [I know] there’s a lot of hard work ahead and I’ve got a lot to learn initially.
“But I’m very confident that I can produce good results for the team and hopefully we can progress through the year and come out with a very good finishing position at the end. And of course, we are here to win. We want to do the best we possibly can and ultimately to win - that’s got to be our aim on as many occasions as we possibly can."
Gunn will be able, should he wish, to make the morning and evening commutes back and forth from his home in a village close to Silverstone.
“I live very close to the circuit, only a few miles away, so it is very local. And it’s Aston Martin’s home race as well, so all in all it’s a great place to start the new season and I’m really looking forward to getting started.”
