Lights, cameras and action!

Track action is about to begin for the 8 Hours of Bahrain, and it marks the third time in the 2019-20 FIA World Endurance Championship season that we will race into the night, and of course Bahrain differs from Le Mans as it is a fully floodlit circuit.

Bahrain International Circuit is justifiably proud of its state-of-the-art, permanent flood lighting system around the 5.411 km track. After almost 12 hours of darkness for this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, the running of this weekend’s final round of Season 8 under bright lights will be a new experience for some of the new drivers present.

Featuring 495 posts ranging from 10m to 45m in height and 5,000 light fittings, BIC’s distinctive track features will be illuminated.  In all, in excess of 500 kilometres of cabling was installed to connect and provide control of all the lighting network and system.

Not only will the 24 entrants for the 8 Hours of Bahrain be able to experience the benefits of the floodlighting, but the TV viewers and fans following the race around the world will be able to more easily identify and follow the World Championship title action as it approaches a thrilling peak.
