Finally, but by no means least, is the highly competitive LMGTE Am category which also reached a thrilling finale at the final round of the FIA World Endurance Championship last year.  Thanks to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Aston Martin Racing is now in a position to strong defend its class title, but they will be chased to the last for the 2014 championship by the Ferrari and Porsche teams behind them.

The Young Driver AMR No.95 team has a convincing 29 point lead here, its 93 points giving it a significant advantage over the No.61 AF Corse Ferrari on 64 points.

Consistent scoring from Proton Competition’s new Porsche means it holds third place, 4 points behind the Ferrari with the second, No.98 Aston Martin a further seven points back on 53.

2013 Team Champions, 8Star Motorsport, is currently in fifth place on 30 points, with the No.81 AF Corse and No.53 Ram Racing Ferrari 458s close behind on 27 and 26 points respectively.  The British team has, of course, now withdrawn from the Championship.

After its emotionally-charged victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Aston Martin’s No.95 crew leads here too.  Kristian Poulsen and David Heinemeier Hansson are on 93 points, and lead their team mate Nicki Thiim by 18 points.

The full season No.61 Ferrari trio of Luis Perez Companc, Marco Cioci and Mirko Venturi trail the Championship leaders by 29 points (64 points) with the Proton Porsche trio of Christian Ried, Khaled Al Qubaisi and Klaus Bachler on 60 points.  In fifth place in the standings is the No.98 Aston Martin Racing crew of Pedro Lamy, Paul Dalla Lana and Christoffer Nygaard on 53 points.
