“I think it will be another very close battle between us (Porsche Team Manthey), AF Corse Ferrari and Aston Martin, just like at COTA. But it will be fun again,” says the pilot of the No.92 Porsche 911 RSR, Frédéric Makowiecki.
“The Free Practice showed that the Aston seemed to be going for times but we will see, the race is the one that counts especially here where overtaking is quite easy down the long straight.”
‘Mako’ sits a solitary second in the World Endurance Cup for GT Drivers after a victory at Silverstone and a second place at Le Mans.
“For the title we are hoping that the Aston and maybe some other cars can take points off the No.51 AF Corse Ferrari. It will be a close fight I am sure all the way to the last race in Brazil. It will be very exciting for the fans.”
Makowiecki, who is racing more and more in the Far East this season, is loving the attention of the Japanese public, especially this weekend.
“The ambience is super. Everyone is very friendly, polite, but also with incredible passion for racing. It makes it as pleasure to race here in Japan.”
