Ahead of the first day of action at Fuji Speedway in Japan, the FIA World Endurance Championship hosted pupils from the Mukaida Elementary School in Oyama. The 17 girls and boys were shown behind the scenes of the event and observed how some different areas of the organization work ahead of the race being held on Sunday 15 October.
On the programme was a visit to the international Media Centre, a meeting with William Cance and his team of scrutineers to see some cars up close, plus a visit to the pit garages of the Porsche LMP Team, Jackie Chan DC Racing, and Dempsey-Proton Racing where some lucky children got the chance to sit in the cockpit of the LMP2 and GT cars.
During the afternoon the pupils learned about the diversity of jobs carried out in the paddock before heading to the WEC team hospitality unit for a well-deserved snack and drink. Who knows, maybe some of these new young fans have found future careers in endurance racing?
