Nick Leventis to rappel The Shard

Nick Leventis will show once again that he is an accomplished sportsman by rappelling down the highest skyscraper in Europe, The Shard, designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, opened in early July in London. Strakka driver Leventis, who was victorious in the LMP2 class at Le Mans in 2010 alongside Danny Watts and Jonny Kane, will be among 40 people to make the attempt to benefit two charities.

Nick Leventis, a former high-level skier who had to end his career after a bad injury, has performed wonders for a charity in a record breaking height of tandem free fall. The Briton jumped from a plane at 30,000 feet (9,144 metres) above the height of Everest to raise money for Global Angels Foundation, which helps underprivileged children in Asia.

On the 3rd of September he will be content with 1,017 feet (310 metres) of The Shard which will be open to the public in 2013, to try to collect 25,000 pounds for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (to help soldiers active and retired) and The Outward Bound Trust (educational association).

Before embarking on this, Nick Leventis will have a day of training by naval commandos in the 16th of August. A good way to stay fit before the 6 Hours of Silverstone on 26th August, the fourth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship. Strakka, a 100% British team with Danny Watts, Jonny Kane and Nick Leventis will want to shine on home soil and score the points in the ranking for the private teams' Trophy in LMP1 with their Honda HPD No.21.
