One month until 8 Hours of Portimão!
In exactly one month’s time (Sunday 13 June), the sound of FIA WEC machinery will roar into action at the Algarve International Circuit for the first-ever 8 Hours of Portimão – round two of WEC Season 9.
While a regular fixture on the ELMS calendar, the Portuguese circuit is a new addition to the WEC calendar and next month will mark the championship’s first foray to Portugal since the WEC began back in 2012.
Due to its undulations and flowing nature, the 4.6km Portimão circuit is like a short version of Spa-Francorchamps, which staged the WEC season-opener earlier this month. Furthermore, Portimão’s blind corners will be a true test for the brand-new Hypercar machinery, as well as the LMP2 plus LMGTE Pro and Am classes.
