Pin on Prema Racing entry: “I've been working hard for this”

If the news that the Prema team is expanding to a two-car team in 2023 was not exciting enough recently, the confirmation that Doriane Pin would be one of its drivers certainly was.

Pin, the reigning Ferrari Challenge champion, made her WEC debut at the 2022 TotalEnergies 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps when she subbed for Sarah Bovy.

The 19-year-old French driver has been confirmed in the No. 63 Prema Oreca-Gibson LMP2 car for the forthcoming campaign. It was announced that she will join Daniil Kvyat and Marco Bortolotti in the car.

Pin is part of the Iron Dames stable of talented female racers and has forged a glowing international reputation after making her circuit racing debut only three years ago. Since that time, she has raced in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series, the European Le Mans Series and the Intercontinental GT Chalelnge.

But it has been her success in the Ferrari Chalelnge that has won her many fans. In 2022 she took the 2022 Ferrari Challenge Europe crown in a crushing display that harnessed an incredible nine wins from 14 race starts.

Speaking of her move in to the WEC, Pin says that she was “very happy and excited to join Prema for the WEC in 2023 as an Iron Dame.”

Pin added: “I have been working hard for this and I am very delighted for such opportunity, and I can’t thank the team enough for their ongoing support. I am looking forward to starting the season in Sebring and to reaching our common goals together with the team.”

The No. 9 Prema entry will continue in the 2022 LMP2 class and will feature a completely new line-up.

In the team’s sister No. 9 car will be Dutchman Bent Viscaal who competed in ELMS and at Le Mans last year, as well as Romania’s Filip Ugran – who transitions to the WEC after racing in Formula 4 and FIA Formula 3.

Correa will miss the opening round at Sebring due to a clash with Formula 2, with his spot in the car being taken by Lamborghini driver Andrea Caldarelli.
