Porsche and Ford – the ‘super’ teams!
Two of the six automotive giants entered in the LMGTE Pro class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year will have no fewer than four cars each in the world’s greatest endurance race on 16/17th June.
While they will not score points for the FIA WEC, the American entries for both Porsche and Ford – together with Corvette Racing and an additional Ferrari entry – bring the class to an incredible 17 entries. These factory-run GTE cars, together with 100% professional driver line ups, guarantee a quite incredible battle ahead for fans at the track and on screens around the world to enjoy.
But how to tell these four-car teams apart?
Porsche makes it a little easier…
At the 24 Hours of Le Mans official test day, the Porsche GT Team revealed hugely popular retro liveries for the No.91 and 92 which helps fans (and TV commentators) instantly to recognise which car is which. For the No.93 and 94 there is a difference in windscreen strip and rear wing:
No.91 Blue and white retro livery
No.92 Pink retro livery
No.93 Black windscreen strip and black rear wing
No.94 White windscreen strip and white rear wing
Which Ford GT is that?
The four Ford GTs presented by Ford Chip Ganassi Racing UK/USA will run at Le Mans in the same red, white and blue livery. In order to help the commentators and viewers differentiate between the cars they will all run brightly coloured windscreen strips and wing mirrors using the following colours:
No.66 GREEN
No.67 BLUE
No.68 RED
No.69 YELLOW
New for this year and especially striking at night, the wing mirrors will be coated in electroluminescent paint that will glow in each car's unique colour, making each car easily identifiable at all times while adding almost no weight.
Have fun looking out for who’s who!
