Global action hero Jackie Chan has been enjoying the FIA World Endurance Championship action at the 6 Hours of Shanghai this weekend as he cheers on the Baxi DC Racing Alpine squad.
The veteran star of films such as ‘Rush Hour’ and ‘Shanghai Noon’ is an avid endurance racing fan and will wave the green flag at the start of the race on Sunday morning.
Through his association with David Cheng the Hollywood legend has deepened his interest in motorsport with a connection with the Chinese-entered team.
David Cheng, team co-owner and driver for the Baxi DC squad said: “I have known Jackie for the last few years and he was instrumental in bringing the team together as a co-owner. Jackie is ramping up his involvement more and more and is loving being part of the project.
“Jackie told me that when he first went to America one of his idols was Steve McQueen as an actor and director, and of course we talked about Le Mans, the movie, and things went on from there,” continued Cheng. “He is excited about this weekend, not just about our team but the whole grid in general.”
Chan will be watching the 6 Hours of Shanghai race on Sunday. It will be the second event he has attended this year as he also joined fellow stars Brad Pitt, Jason Statham and Keanu Reeves at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.
