Scrutineering starts in the centre of Le Mans

Hello and welcome to the first official day of activities for the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans, the third round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.  The Administrative and Technical Scrutineering checks, more locally known as “Le Pesage” – literally, “the weighing” – begins this afternoon in the centre of Le Mans in the Place de la République.

Of the 22 cars and 66 drivers due to pass through the hands of the officials, the first from the FIA WEC will be G-Drive Racing’s LMP2 Morgan-Nissan at 15h30, followed immediately by the much-awaited Porsche Team who will present their Porsche 919 Hybrid cars at 15h45 and 16h00.  In today's bright sunshine and warm temperatures, many thousands of fans are expected so the line of fans for a glimpse of Mark Webber will be huge!

Ram Racing and Proton Competition from the LMGTE Pro and Am categories are next through from the FIA WEC, the Ferrari 458 Italias and Porsche 911 RSR advancing through their checks just prior to Proton’s second entry to the race which features none other than Patrick Dempsey…

WEC Championship leaders, Toyota Racing, is due at 17h50 and 18h00 with its two TS040 Hybrids, and the final two world championship full-season entrants through today will be the Porsche 911 RSRs of Porsche Team Manthey, bringing the day’s activities to a close just before 19h00.

More details about tomorrow's scrutineering schedule coming later, and a full list of when the cars will be going through their checks can be found HERE.
