Sixteen drivers on double duty in WEC and ELMS!

This season there will be not one, but two, 4 Hours of Silverstone. One for the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and one for the European Le Mans Series (ELMS).

If taking part in one of the 4-hour races was not enough, 16 WEC drivers will be extra busy as they complete double duty by also contesting the ELMS race the day before (Saturday 31 August).

The packed timetable will see logistics and time management tested to the maximum for those drivers as they climb from one cockpit into another.

At Cool Racing, it will be the whole driver line-up of Nico Lapierre, Antonin Borga and Alexandre Coigny that will have to push to the limits as they compete in both events, with the Swiss team making its debut in the WEC.

Last year’s ELMS LMP2 poleman, Will Stevens, will make his debut with Jackie Chan DC Racing at the wheel of the No. 37 Oreca 07 Gibson for the WEC, and compete in ELMS in the No. 23 Panis-Barthez Competition Oreca 07.

ELMS duo, Phil Hanson and Filipe Albuquerque will be racing for United Autosports in both championships. The Anglo-American team will be looking to make a good impression on their WEC debut.

Other LMP drivers in action in both ELMS and WEC races include Job Van Uitert (Racing Team Nederland/G-Drive Racing), Pierre Ragues (Signatech Alpine Elf/Duqueine Engineering) and Anders Fjordbach (High Class Racing). Britain’s Ben Hanley, will be at the wheel of the No. 5 Team LNT Ginetta G60-LT-P1 in the WEC and driving for DragonSpeed in ELMS.

Alessandro Pier Guidi is the only ELMS driver in the LMGTE Pro grid of the WEC 4 Hours of Silverstone. The 2017 FIA World GTE Champion will compete in the No. 51 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE Evo alongside Britain’s James Calado.

Five LMGTE Am drivers will pull double stints with Matteo Cairoli (Team Project 1/Dempsey Proton Racing), Christian Ried and Riccardo Pera (All Dempsey Proton Racing), Nicklas Nielsen (AF Corse/Luzich Racing) and Thomas Preining (Dempsey Proton Racing/Proton Competition) in action.

Giving true meaning to the word “Endurance”, these hard-working 16 drivers will be entitled to put their feet up on Sunday evening!
