Sportscar legend Hans-Joachim Stuck was keen to express his love of the WEC at Spa today.
The two-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner and works Porsche driver in the 1980s was an impressed visitor on behalf of the VW Group today.
“I am so happy to see the WEC in great health and growing every year,” said Stuck. “Sportscar racing is very close to my heart and to see the fantastic showdown at Silverstone a few weeks ago was a big thrill for me. It was a fantastic level of performance and a beautiful race.”
Stuck has also been interested by the level of interest and passion shown by the public toward the WEC in recent seasons.
“You can hear the buzz and you can feel the buzz around sportscars. The racing is excellent and there are some very big star names here which the public also appreciate. But, above all, the technology is incredible. These cars are very interesting to the public because they see something exceptional and very, very quick and I think it is a golden period. I am really happy to see the WEC bringing all of these ingredients together in such a fascinating way.”
Synonymous with Porsche 956 and 962 cars, Stuck will be a keen supporter of the Porsche 919 Hybrids in the second round of the 2015 WEC this afternoon.
