Too close to call - LMGTE Am Spa preview
27/04/2015

An additional AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia increases the LMGTE Am class to eight protagonists at Spa this weekend.

The #55 AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia could be a significant addition as well, with the rapid Matt Griffin always a contender on the Spa circuit. The Irishman joins his regular driving partner Duncan Cameron to make his 14th WEC appearance; Cameron will make his WEC debut along with third driver Alex Mortimer.

After a closely fought encounter at Silverstone last month it was the #98 Aston Martin Racing entry of Paul Dalla Lana, Mathias Lauda and Pedro Lamy that emerged victorious. They just beat the #83 AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia of Emmanuel Collard, François Perrodo and Rui Aguas after a race long battle.

The #96 Aston Martin will be one to watch this weekend as Stuart Hall and Francesco Castellacci have always been fast at the 7.004km circuit. They are joined by Roald Goethe again this weekend as they aim to score another Gulf liveried victory at a track which saw a famous win for the blue and orange colours back in 1971.

Patrick Dempsey enjoyed an assured start to his first full WEC season last time out at Silverstone. The star of Grey’s Anatomy and many motion pictures is revelling in the Dempsey Proton Porsche 911 RSR and will undertake his first race at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps track this weekend as he lines up with team mates Patrick Long and Marco Seefried.  A recent test session at Bahrain has given the trio more valuable seat time which will no doubt add to confidence.

The rumble of the Larbre Chevy-powered Corvette C7 is likely to be a crowd favourite at Spa, with Kristian Poulsen, Gianluca Roda and Paolo Ruberti aiming to make up for a tough opening race at Silverstone.
