Last month, Toyota Gazoo Racing confirmed a change to its driver line-up with Nyck de Vries replacing Jose Maria Lopez in the No. 7 Hypercar. De Vries will join regular drivers Mike Conway and Kamui Kobayashi in the cockpit. The sister No. 8 car has an unchanged line-up with recently-crowned drivers' champions Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa at the wheel.
Toyota will face stiff competition in next year's WEC season with no less than nine manufacturers competing in the headline Hypercar category including Alpine, BMW, Cadillac, Ferrari, Isotta Fraschini, Lamborghini, Peugeot and Porsche.
