WEC Full Access from the 6 Hours of Fuji

WEC Full Access from Fuji, the seventh and penultimate instalment of the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship campaign, goes live on YouTube today (Friday, 4 October) at 20:45 CEST.

Offering fans a fascinating insight into the stars of the show, WEC Full Access covers everything from team briefings to heated mid-race discussions. It is the ultimate YouTube series, documenting the most private areas of the WEC paddock.

Nestled in the foothills of Japan’s iconic Mount Fuji, Fuji Speedway is renowned for generating exciting action – and it did so once again.

Porsche Penske Motorsport emerged on top in a race mixed up by a number of interruptions that prompted teams to roll the dice on strategy – some more successfully than others. The #6 car’s second victory of the season – the first crew to achieve such a feat – has carried its drivers to within touching-distance of the coveted world championship crown.

For Toyota Gazoo Racing, the 6 Hours of Fuji – quite literally in the team’s backyard – is always an important weekend, but this year, it delivered only disappointment, with a retirement for the #7 GR010 Hybrid Hypercar following a coming-together with the #5 Porsche, and a lowly tenth-place finish for the sister #8 entry. Join home hero Kamui Kobayashi inside the cockpit as he and Matt Campbell make terminal contact while disputing the same section of real estate.

Talking of on-boards, the latest WEC Full Access episode is full of them. These include Alex Lynn’s first pole position for Cadillac in Hyperpole – cheered on by the team’s mascot, Bruce the duck – the race start and lap two collision involving a number of leading contenders, as well as the thrilling battles for position between André Lotterer and Nicklas Nielsen for the lead and Mick Schumacher against Norman Nato for the final spot on the podium in the closing stages.

Not only that, but this no-holds-barred show goes behind-the-scenes into the heart of the team garages to capture their celebrations and commiserations in the heat of the moment, while offering a fly-on-the-wall perspective of the starting drivers’ briefing and an insight into competitors’ pre-race warm-up routines as they psyche themselves up for the challenge ahead.

The latest in-depth episode of this absorbing series also features expert analysis from official WEC commentator Anthony Davidson – a winner for Toyota at Fuji in front of the passionate and enthusiastic Japanese fans on his way to the 2014 world championship title.

So check out our YouTube channel from 20:45 CEST to tune in, and in the meantime, you can watch the previous instalment of WEC Full Access from Lone Star Le Mans at COTA here.
