Timo Bernhard – Porsche Team
“It was great to see the team cheering us on and they all did a great job again. As a team we have had three pole positions in a row which is fantastic. For the race it is very important to get a result and then be up there and fighting for the championship.
“Spa, especially at the end of the stint, will be tough on tyres . But we can see that we are improving all the time but the competition will be closer tomorrow and it will be a tough race.”
Marcel Fassler – Audi Sport Team Joest
“We know the Porsches are strong in qualifying so it is not too much of a big surprise to see them ahead now. I think we could have managed to beat one today but I had too much traffic in my first lap when I had the peak of the tyre and it was not a perfect lap at all.
“I’m pretty happy that we are not so far away and it all looks promising for tomorrow’s race. We couldn’t do a long run in Free Practice on tyres but in terms of car behaviour it looks good but we will see in the race tomorrow.”
Stéphane Sarrazin – Toyota GAZOO Racing
“Qualifying was difficult, particularly because I had traffic on two of my flying laps. I hope we can have a good race and move up the order; we will see. We want to score big points but we need a good strategy to improve our position. We are very good on our tyres so degradation could make a difference. We’ll stay positive and do our best in the race.”
Julien Canal – G-Drive Racing
“For me it has been difficult this week because we only had FP3 to run on the track in the dry. So my first fast lap was not so good but then I pushed like hell and the car was very good and I was very confident with the grip.”
Pipo Derani – G-Drive Racing
"The qualifying was good. Just a shame Ricardo had made a small mistake at the first corner, which cost us five or six tenths and could have put the team in first and second again", said Derani, 21.
"But our car is very good in the race, especially with old tyres and I am confident in our pace. Starting in fourth position is not that bad and certainly we will have chances to recover during the six hours of race. Now it is time to think about the race and try for one more 1-2 for the G-Drive team", added the Brazilian, who was second in the opening round in England.
Nicolas Lapierre – KCMG
“It was good and I had two clear laps and we could push as much as we wanted but the balance was not quite how we wanted it but it was better than at the start of the weekend. We have lots of areas to improve as it is so new but step by step we are getting there. We’ll see tomorrow during the race how things evolve particularly on tyre management. We have a very good top speed and I think in traffic this will help us.”
Simon Dolan – JOTA Sport
“Qualifying was a really enjoyable experience for me today and it was nice to put together a couple of reasonably competitive laps. In retrospect I know where I could have gone quicker but this is the first time I have qualified so I am happy.
“We’re in good shape with the tyres and I think we can be there or thereabouts tomorrow in the race.”
Richie Stanaway – Aston Martin Racing
"The conditions were very different to what we were used to. So on my first lap, I tried to capitalise on the tyres but I did not manage to maximise the use of the new tyres we had. I was just happy to hand over the car to Fernando at the top of the time sheets."
Pedro Lamy– Aston Martin Racing
"The car was really good; the track had a lot of grip. It was probably the most grip I’ve ever had at Spa to be honest. We could just push because of this, especially with new tyres, I was even able to take Eau Rouge flat with the set I used."
