Loic Duval – Audi Sport Team Joest
“I did not exactly know what to expect with the car but it felt good straight away. I was actually quite conservative in sector one and I felt good with it so I pushed in sectors two and three. When I saw the time on the dash I was very happy because when I jumped in the car Lucas was on the pole and I thought it would be an easy pole but they asked me to stay in the car which meant I was a bit nervous."
“Now the most important thing is tomorrow and I think it will be really close. It’s going to be tough. We know now that the hotter it is, the better it is for us as we saw in Austin. The weather looks fine for tomorrow. We know we have the car to win and we want to grab a lot of points.”
Kazuki Nakajima – Toyota Gazoo Racing
“It was a surprisingly exciting qualifying for us and it is the first time for a while that we could really fight for pole position. It was fun and I am happy with the result, which is more than we expected. We still want to improve the set-up for the race when I hope we can reward the Japanese fans for their great support.”
Alexandre Imperatori – Rebellion Racing
“Halfway through the session it was close and I was a bit worried so we had to go back out again. The team asked me to push and it looked like it would be close again but in the end we had enough in hand. I want to thank the team for giving us a good car this weekend and hopefully tomorrow we can go for another victory.”
Will Stevens – G-Drive Racing
“The team is obviously very good in qualifying and we got another one today which is great. They have had no luck in the races so far this year so obviously we hope that can change. The car felt good and we are in good shape tomorrow so let’s see what race day brings.”
Olivier Pla – Ford Chip Ganassi Racing UK
“This is our first WEC pole and it feels good. We have been quick since the start of the meeting and the car is getting quicker and quicker. We work together closely with the #67 car, sharing information, so we learn from them and they learn from us and that is paying off. It was a very close session so I am happy for us and for Ford. Now we have to make sure we do a good job tomorrow.”
Pedro Lamy – Aston Martin Racing
“Paul (Dalla Lana) did a really good job and we went back out and were able to confirm another pole which feels nice. We are conscious of working towards the race and we think we have a nice package for the race tomorrow. The team did a great job as usual and thanks to them for another great effort.”
