The LMP2s will bid farewell to the FIA WEC at the next Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain. But have no fear, the category will still offer its incredible battles in the Asian Le Mans Series, the European Le Mans Series and, of course, during the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Here is a list of 25 important stats and facts that have marked the presence of the LMP2 category for almost 12 years.*
1. Enzo Potolicchio, Luis Perez Companc, Julien Canal, Bruno Senna, Will Stevens, David Heinemeier Hansson, Harry Tincknell and Dries Vanthoor all won in LMP2 and GTE Am.
2. Nineteen different teams have won in LMP2 - the first victory was taken by American-flagged Starworks, driving a Honda shod with Dunlop tires, and the most recent by Polish-flagged Inter Europol, driving of an Oreca with a Gibson engine shod with Goodyear tires.
3. G-Drive Racing has won the most races in its category, 17, and is the only team to reach this number in double digits.
4. Nine different LMP2 teams have won at Le Mans, with more winners than at any other circuit on the calendar.
5. Six teams have won a single race in LMP2 - DragonSpeed (Spa 2019), Cool Racing (Silverstone 2019), Racing Team Nederland (Fuji 2019), RealTeam by WRT (Monza 2022), Hertz Team JOTA (Sebring 2023) and Inter Europol (Le Mans 2023).
6. Sergey Zlobin won the LMP2 drivers' title in 2014 without winning a race, which is a unique case in the history of the category.
7. Nicolas Lapierre, Andre Negrão and Pierre Thiriet (Signatech Alpine) achieved 100% podium finishes in 2018/19, including winning both Le Mans races that season, becoming the first and only LMP2 champions to achieve this pelin cardboard and a unique feat.
8. 2015 champions Sam Bird, Roman Rusinov and Julien Canal, 2019/20 champions Phil Hanson and Filipe Albuquerque, and 2021 champions Robin Frijns, Charles Milesi and Ferdinand Habsburg claimed top honors with a 50% win rate. , the highest in the history of the category.

13. Une LMP2 s’est hissée sur le podium final à six reprises : Starworks à Sebring 2012, G-Drive à Bahreïn 2013, les deux voitures du Jackie Chan DC Racing au Mans 2017, et une voiture du JCDC à Bahreïn 2020, United Autosports à Monza 2021 et plus récemment WRT à domicile à Spa en 2022.
14. United Autosports et Jackie Chan DC Racing ont atteint le record de quatre victoires consécutives en LMP2. La United n°22 a réalisé l'exploit avec une seule voiture, de Bahreïn 2019 au Mans 2020. 20. The largest margin of victory in LMP2 was 18 laps, between the No. 47 KCMG and No. 27 SMP Racing at Sao Paulo in 2014.
21. At 16 years and 32 days, Josh Pierson ends the LMP2 era as the youngest at Sebring in 2022.
22. Julien Canal (G-Drive Racing in 2015 and Rebellion Racing in 2017) and Nicolas Lapierre (Signatech Alpine in 2016 and 2018/19) are the only drivers to have won two LMP2 titles. Only Phil Hanson (United Autosports) can match this feat, but he must win in Bahrain to have any chance of joining them.
23. French drivers have won six LMP2 titles - two for Julien Canal, two for Nicolas Lapierre, and one each for Pierre Thiriet and Charles Milesi. This feat can only be matched if Phil Hanson and Frederik Lubin of United Autosports are crowned champions this year.
24. Gibson Technology ends the era with 44 wins, ahead of NISMO's 38 wins and Honda HPD's three.
25. Oreca ends the LMP2 era having won 59 races under its own brand, and a further eight under the Alpine name. Ligier has also won eight races, while Morgan has four and Honda three. Zytek won two races, before the rebranded manufacturer won again under the Gibson name.
