The day of reckoning has arrived for the FIA WEC combatants at round four of the 2016 championship.
The big three LMP1 rivals all have an added incentive today as they race in front of home fans, employees and guests. The tension is building and the fans are starting to frequent the grandstands and viewing areas as the frisson of excitement escalates for six hours of intense endurance action.
Qualifying provided maximum excitement and saw close and exciting battles even before the wheel-to-wheel race action begins. Audi is back on full form, and Porsche will be keen to ensure that its rivals' qualifying joy is confined and it can make it two victories in successive years.
With LMP2, LMGTE Pro and LMGTE Am race and title fights ready to play out, the 2016 edition of the 6 Hours of Nurburgring is ready to add another spectacular chapter to the FIA WEC history books.
