The latest addition to the AF Corse Ferrari line up at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, former winner Lucas di Grassi, will not take part in the 85th running of the event, and will instead be replaced by Michele Rugolo.

The Brazilian broke his ankle while playing football a week ago and, despite taking part in an FIA Formula E race last weekend, has been ruled out of the line up for the No.51 Ferrari 488 GTE for medical reasons.

Di Grassi will be replaced by Michele Rugolo who has raced at Le Mans on four previous occasions. The reigning Asian Le Mans Series champion’s most recent appearance came in 2014 with AF Corse in the LMGTE Am class.

The Italian, who was already at the Le Mans track for the Road to Le Mans race, has already completed all the obligatory administrative and technical checks, seen the Race Director for a special briefing, and is now in the car for free practice.
