WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps: Widespread TV coverage throughout the world

Europe

For the traditional dress rehearsal for the WEC’s third round, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, there is extensive pan-European coverage via Eurosport and Motorsport.tv broadcaster which will continue to show all races live. 

Most importantly for local fans, Belgium’s free-to-air RTBF channel will show the opening and closing hours of the race, showing the best of the WEC to its 10.4 million potential viewers.  The full race will also be shown live on RTBF’s Auvio internet channel.  

The race will also be broadcast LIVE in Austria (ORF Sport), Bulgaria (6HT), France (La Chaine Equipe) and Germany (Sport1), – check the TV distribution list for exact timings.  The combined reach of the French and German markets alone is 130 million people.

Since the 6 Hours of Silverstone, agreement has been reached to show a full highlights package on the free-to-air ITV4 channel in the UK, with a potential reach of 58 million viewers.  This programme goes out the Saturday after each event. 

Asia Pacific

As well as J Sports’s full live race coverage in Japan, and delayed highlights being shown to the 110 million viewers on BS Fuji’s channel, the WEC has signed a new season-long contract for full broadcast coverage of the championship with Sina.com in China.  continue their partnerships with the WEC with extensive coverage across the whole season.  The channel will show both qualifying and the full race live, supplementing Motorsport.tv China’s broadcast.

The WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps will also air on Eurosport across the Asia-Pacific region, including of course Australia.

The Americas

The USA and Latin America have one of the largest reaches for the FIA WEC in 2017, with Fox Sports North America dedicating live coverage and highlights packages all season long. Their 214 million potential reach combines with Fox International’s equally impressive 59 million reach in Latin America and both channels will show the Belgian race live. 

Africa and Middle East

SuperSport’s coverage of the WEC event will be shown as highlights across Africa.

Commentary in English will be available on all live transmissions and official WEC highlights shows, with multiple 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Allan McNish giving his expert insights on FIA WEC. The 2013 World Endurance Champion will be joined in Spa by Martin Haven, with additional support from Graham Goodwin and Louise Beckett.
