Monza 6H FP2: No.7 Toyota fastest in FP2; No.41 WRT quickest again in LMP2; Iron Lynx Ferrari ahead in LMGTE
Below are the main headlines from this afternoon’s 90 minute free practice session at Monza, which was held in hot and sunny conditions.
Hypercar
- A 1m36.363s lap by Kamui Kobayashi in the No.7 Toyota Gazoo GR010 Hybrid Hypercar sees Toyota head Ferrari in Free Practice 2 at Monza
- Kobayashi's time is just 0.170s ahead of the No.50 AF Corse Ferrari 499P as Antonio Fuoco claims second best time
- No.8 Toyota GR010 Hybrid Hypercar places third as Brendon Hartley completes best lap and ensures that 0.323s covers the leading trio
- Cadillac Racing entry takes fourth to make it three manufacturers in the top four with Alex Lynn peaking on a best lap of 1m36.748s in the Cadillac V-Series.R machine
- No.5 Porsche Penske 963 places fifth as Frederic Makowiecki sets best lap of 1m36.991s
- 'Mako' heads the Proton Competition Porsche 963 in sixth position
- Gianmaria Bruni stops halfway through the session at the Variante Rettifilio and has to be recovered back to the pits with a technical issue which triggers only Full Course Yellow of session
- Earlier, Harry Tincknell set that cars fastest lap of the week so far on a 1m37.181s best
- No.51 Ferrari AF Corse entry takes seventh fastest as Alessandro Pier Guidi again sets best time in Le Mans winning 499P Hypercar
- Peugeot place eighth and tenth as No.93 heads the No.94 9X8 Hypercar, Jean-Eric Vergne and Nico Mueller turn in best laps
- Hertz Team Jota takes ninth and splits the Peugeots as Will Stevens sets late time
- Glickenhaus Racing complete the top 10 with Nathaneal Berthon claiming best time for American entered non-Hybrid Hypercar
- No.6 Porsche Penske takes 12th fastest time after serving a 15-minute stop and hold penalty for two separate offenses in FP1. First one was for contact with the No.777 D'Station Aston Martin, while the second was for insufficient reduction of speed during a Full Course Yellow period
- Floyd Vanwall has a troubled session with mechanical issues and only complete a reduced number of laps and place 13th i n Hypercar

- Robert Kubica again takes best time in the No.41 Team WRT Oreca-Gibson by setting a 1m39.955s best.
- A 1m40.136s best by Alberto Costa in the Inter Europol Competition car sees the Le Mans winning car goes second
- Team WRT again look strong across its squad as Ferdinand Habsburg again sets best time in car he shares with Robin Frijns and Sean Gelael
- United Autosports takes fourth place with its No.22 because as Phil Hanson sets time that ensures the top three are covered by 0.393s
- No.63 Prema entry claims fifth as Doriane Pin completes her fastest lap of the week so far with a 1m40.548s best as Italian team hunts home glory this weekend
- No.36 Alpine ELF Team round out top six as Charles Milesi completes best lap for Les Bleues

- Alessio Picariello tops the times in LMGTE Am category in No.60 Iron Lynx Ferrari 488 GTE Evo with a peak of 1m46.973s
- Belgian/Italian driver heads the GR Racing Porsche 911 RSR-19 with Riccardo Pera again setting the time for the British team that took its best ever result of third at Le Mans last month
- Matteo Cairoli slams in a late 1m47.499s lap to get third place in final minutes of session
- No.77 Dempsey Proton Porsche 911 RSR-19 places fourth as Julien Andlauer peaks on a 1m47.654s best
