Baxi DC Racing Alpine bring oriental flair to WEC

A welcome addition to the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2016 has been the Baxi DC Racing Alpine squad. The Signatech Alpine-run A460, which is derived from the ORECA 05 package, showed exceptional pace in the Prologue in March and the team showed some bright flashes of potential at both Silverstone and Spa.

David Cheng, who branched out into team ownership last season, has formed a fine team with Ho-Pin Tung and Nelson Panciatici. The Beijing-born racer, who competed in the ELMS last season, as well as at the Le Mans 24 Hours and the 6 Hours of Shanghai, believes that his aims and objectives will be met in 2016.

“We have a structured plan for the team and so far we are happy,” said Cheng. “One of the biggest things for Ho-Pin and I has been learning all about the Dunlop tyres because we have three season's experience with Michelins. But we are getting more and more comfortable with the adjustment.”

“There is a lot new for us: chassis, tyres and so on. For us at DCR, we are working as a total combination,” continued Cheng. “We run the whole operation together with Signatech and we work together to make it as cohesive as we can. There is a good feeling within the organisation and I think we can get some really good results this season.”
