The entry list for the TotalEnergies 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps – round three of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship campaign on 8-10 May – is now out, with changes in both the Hypercar and LMGT3 ranks.
So far this season, Ferrari has had things all its own way in FIA WEC’s headlining Hypercar category, claiming back-to-back triumphs with its #50 and #51 crews respectively in Qatar and Italy – and the Prancing Horse is eager to maintain that momentum in Belgium.
After clinching the Drivers’ crown with Kévin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor and André Lotterer last year, Porsche Penske Motorsport has conversely endured a difficult start to its title defence, but the German manufacturer has a secret weapon up its sleeve for Spa – two, in fact.
It was confirmed today that reigning FIA Formula E World Champion Pascal Wehrlein and former Team Peugeot TotalEnergies ace Nico Müller will come on-board the #6 and #5 Porsche 963 hybrid prototypes for the event, as the German-American alliance ramps up its preparations for June’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Elsewhere, with Imola podium-finisher Sheldon Van der Linde and team-mate Dries Vanthoor on IMSA duty in the United States, BMW M Team WRT – headquartered less than an hour away from Spa – will slim down to just two drivers in each of its BMW M Hybrid V8 Hypercars, an approach already adopted by Aston Martin THOR Team. Buoyed by its first rostrum appearance of 2025 in Italy, the Belgian-based squad will be hoping for a similarly strong run on home soil.
In LMGT3, meanwhile, with Ben Barnicoat continuing to recover from his mountain-biking accident in March, Yuichi Nakayama will take the Briton’s place in the #78 Akkodis ASP Team Lexus RC F LMGT3, which last time out achieved the Japanese marque’s maiden podium finish in FIA WEC competition in the hands of Esteban Masson, Finn Gehrsitz and Arnold Robin.
Toyota factory driver Nakayama is a title-winner in his home country in both Formula Challenge Japan and the All-Japan Formula 3 Championship, and since 2014, he has competed simultaneously in Super GT, Super Taikyu and Super Formula.
This season, the 33-year-old is additionally contesting the GT World Challenge Europe behind the wheel of a Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO. He recently joined Akkodis for a test session at Spa to familiarise himself with the Lexus ahead of his FIA WEC debut next month.
