From Nurburgring to Le Mans: A month in 24-hour mode
As if one 24-hour race in a calendar month is not enough, almost 20 FIA World Endurance Championship drivers will be taking part in this weekend’s Nürburgring 24 Hours.
The race takes place on the legendary Nordschleife circuit alongside the Grand Prix circuit which will host the fourth round of the WEC – the 6 Hours of Nürburgring – on Sunday 24 July. This will be the first occasion for the public to see all the winners of the Le Mans 24 Hours, and to get up close to 33 of the most sophisticated and beautiful sports prototypes and GT cars in the world. Don't delay and get your tickets for the WEC event HERE.
Nürburgring specialists, Pierre Kaffer (Bykolles Racing, LMP1) and René Rast (G-Drive Racing, LMP2) will be competing for Audi teams in the German 24-hour event and Stefan Mucke (Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK, LMGTE Pro) for Mercedes.
Nearly all of Aston Martin Racing’s LMGTE drivers will be on the grid – Darren Turner, Nicki Thiim, Marco Sørensen, Pedro Lamy, Jonny Adam, Fernando Rees, Mathias Lauda and Richie Stanaway – representing the British marque.
Porsche also has its full arsenal of talent ready – Wolf Henzler, Richard Lietz, Michael Christensen plus Le Mans and former WEC drivers Nick Tandy, Earl Bamber, Patrick Pilet and Frederic Makowiecki. Also competing for Porsche this weekend will be Rebellion Racing’s Alexandre Imperatori.
Good luck to them all and safe racing on the Nordschleife's "Green Hell"!
