Good luck to the many WEC drivers taking on another 24-hour race!

Good luck and safe racing to the many FIA WEC and ELMS names who will be keeping race-fit by competing in another 24-hour race this coming weekend, the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps – venue for the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship in May of this year.

Among them will be Audi Sport’s 24 Hours of Le Mans-winning trio of André Lotterer, Benoît Tréluyer and Marcel Fässler, Toyota Racing’s Nicolas Lapierre who will be driving a McLaren GT3, G-Drive Racing’s Olivier Pla, and a host of Aston Martin Racing names including Darren Turner, Stefan Mücke, Pedro Lamy and Team Principal John Gaw!

Andre Lotterer explains more: “In a nutshell, we’re in the race to battle for victory. Whether or not we’ll have a chance to be in contention this year remains to be seen. A fair rating of all the entrants is never easy. We not only have strong rivals but also strong co-competitors within the Audi teams. It’ll be anything but easy."

More used to driving the Audi R18 e-tron quattro LMP1-H prototype, Lotterer talks about the differences in driving style required for the Audi R8 LMS ultra he will be driving:  “It’s true that there are really big differences between an LMP and a GT3 sports car, particularly due to the aerodynamics, the weight and the tyres.  But a GT race car is generally not easy to drive at the limit either.  In a GT you’ve got to be more restrained than in an LMP.  On the other hand, we’ve got to go to the limit in order to be able to attack; this race will be a nice challenge.”
