Host of new names revealed for WEC’s official Rookie Test
An updated version of the entry list for the official FIA WEC test session at Bahrain International Circuit on Sunday (15 December) sees a host of new names set to drive the LMP and GT machinery.

Regular LMP2 driver Gabriel Aubry will take to the wheel of the No. 95 Aston Martin Vantage AMR car. He will be joined by Britain’s Andrew Watson who normally drives Gulf Racing’s Porsche 911 RSR in LMGTE Am. Lasse Sørensen, younger brother of Marco and a former French F4 Champion as well as current NASCAR Whelen Euro Series Elite 2 Champion, will also test in Bahrain.
Among the new names listed, Racing Team Nederland has confirmed that Britain’s Colin Noble will test its ORECA 07 – Gibson LMP2 car. Noble competed in both ELMS and Michelin Le Mans Cup this year in a Nielsen Racing LMP3 car and is also contesting a full LMP3 campaign in Asian Le Mans. Noble will be joined by Charles Milesi, an 18-year-old French driver who has spent the season competing in Japanese Formula 3.
Other new names include Bahraini driver Isa bin Abdullah Al Khalifa who will take to the wheel of Jackie Chan DC Racing’s ORECA. Sunday’s test will be Al Khalifa’s first experience of LMP2 machinery with the 19-year-old having previously competed in the Middle East Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge. Experienced driver Will Stevens will help set a benchmark time and to ensure that everything is operating well inside the car.
Joining Vincent Abril and America’s Maxwell Root in testing the Team Project 1 Porsche 911 RSR will be experienced Austrian racing driver Philipp Sager and Norwegian Porsche Carrera Cup driver, Marius Nakken.
The sessions at Bahrain International Circuit will run from 10h00 to 12h00 and from 13h00 to 16h00 on Sunday 15 December.
