24H Le Mans 18 Hour report: No change in leaders but plenty of action

At the 18-hour mark for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the sun has now risen on the final day of the 2018-19 FIA WEC Super Season.  Below are the latest Super Finale headlines.

LMP1
•    The No.7 and No.8 TS050 HYBRID cars maintain their positions at the top of the time sheets, the balance problems experienced by Buemi, Nakajima and Alonso in the No.8 having been resolved with a change of door.
•    SMP Racing’s No. 11 BR Engineering BR1–AER is now 3rd overall, and the only car from the Russian team still running after the retirement of the No.17 due to accident damage.
•    Rebellion Racing’s No.3 and 1 are in 4th and 5th places, the No.3 having suffered two setbacks:  a 3m stop and hold penalty for a tyre infraction at the 14-hour point, and a subsequent spin into the gravel at Ford Chicane by Menezes

LMGTE Pro
•    With the advent of the 7th Safety Car period in the race, the LMGTE Pro field was once again affected with the No.91 Porsche 911 RSR losing out due to a long (3m 35s) stop in the pits.
•    The fight for the lead is now between the No.63 Corvette C7R and the No.51 AF Corse Ferrari with just under 10 seconds between the two marques
•    Porsche 911 RSRs hold 3rd and 4th positions followed by all four Ford GTs in their last race at Le Mans

LMP2
•    ELMS 2018 Champion, G-Drive Racing, with its Aurus 01 and the No.36 Signatech Alpine Matmut A470 continue to dominate with a lap between them now.  All to play for as championship honours are at stake for the French team
•    Chasing hard is the No.38 Jackie Chan DC Racing ORECA, pursued by TDS Racing’s No.28 chassis
•    It has been a race to forget for the unfortunate American DragonSpeed team with the No.31 ORECA 07 crashing out just after the start of the 16th hour with Pastor Maldonado at the wheel.

LMGTE Am
•    The Keating Motorsports No.85 Ford GT continues to lead in the LMGTE Am category, a lap ahead of the No.56 Team Project 1 Porsche – the first of the WEC entries.
•    Clearwater Racing, also in its last WEC race, is currently 4th in class and second in the provisional WEC points.
