Fuji stat attack!
In only one week’s time the 6 Hours of Fuji, round 2 of FIA WEC Season 8, will get underway in Japan. To help celebrate the occasion, below are eight of our favourite event-based stats.

1. Since 2012, the WEC 6 Hours of Fuji has seen a total 206 cars combine for 33,644 racing laps, or 153,518 km
2. From the seven Japanese rounds to date, only 14 cars have DNF’ed, been NC or DSQ (in short: failed to pick up a racing point). It is the lowest tally of any of the tracks on the Season 8 calendar
3. A victory in LMP2 for High Class Racing would see Kenta Yamashita become the third Japanese driver to win in the class. The last was Tsugio Matsuda, who took victory in 2014 with KCMG at 6h COTA in 2014. Shinji Nakano was the first, winning at home in Fuji with ADR back in 2012
4. Eleven cars have won from pole position at Fuji, or 39%, putting it behind only Shanghai and Spa - three in LMP1, LMP2 has seen the most (four) from 2013-2014-2015-2016, and two each in the GTE classes
5. Interestingly, no GTE Pro car has won from pole at Fuji since 2013. It is currently the longest active dry streak at any of the five original circuits, where a car has won from pole previously
#6hFuji 2018 was the first of two @FIAWEC circuits in 2018/19 to see top speeds in all four classes fall from a previous year. All four by drivers.

6. 2016’s race, whilst at the time providing the closest-ever green flag finish in the WEC, also saw the most laps completed in Japan. The 32 entrants clocked up a massive 6,627 laps under the mountain, equivalent to 18,788 miles, an average of 588 miles raced per car
7. 50% of Kamui Kobayashi’s four WEC wins have been achieved at home in Fuji – the epic 2016 showdown and again last season
8. Fuji will be the third competitive WEC outing for Ginetta’s pair of G60-LT-P1 AER cars. It will also be the third different race duration they’ll face (after 24 hours and last month’s 4 Hours of Silverstone). To date, the cars have covered 656 competitive laps, for 4,421 miles
#6hFuji 2017 was unique in that it marked the first ever instance of a full @FIAWEC class finishing by order of car number.
