The FIA Endurance Committee has announced the latest Balance of Performance decisions for the LMGTE classes, applicable for the 24 Hours of Le Mans Test day on 4th June.
The BoP for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, round 3 of the FIA World Endurance Championship, is not part of the new automatic system agreed by all manufacturers, due to be introduced for the 6 Hours of Nürburgring in July. Le Mans is treated as a separate case due to the unique demands of the 13.629 km Circuit de la Sarthe.
2016 LMGTE Pro winner, Ford, will have to run with an additional 20kg weight compared to last year to take it to a mandated 1268kg, together with reduced turbo boost pressures.
The Aston Martin Vantage will be 10kg heavier than last year, but has been handed a 0.7mm increase in the diameter of its engine air-restrictor (29.7mm).
The new-for-2017 mid-engined Porsche 911 RSR, which will be racing at Le Mans for the first time on 17/18 June, will run at 1258kg and receives a 30.1mm restrictor for the test.
The Ferrari 488 GTE remains at its 1268kg weight and running the same boost levels as in 2016. All manufacturer models have received adjusted fuel capacity levels to reflect the Le Mans track length.
In LMGTE Am, there will be adjustments in weight and power for all manufacturers competing in the category. Included are weight adjustments for the rear-engined Porsche 911 RSR (991) (+10kg), Ferrari 488 GTE (-10kg) and Aston Martin Vantage (-5kg), with slight power or restrictor adjustments for all three models as well, compared to at the recent WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.
