Michelin honours the winners of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2011
A few years ago, Tom Kristensen said jokingly; "When I cross the finish line, I wonder what will be the next gift from Michelin! " Yesterday, it was not Tom Kristensen, but three of his team-mates from Audi Sport who were present to receive this annual award to the three winning drivers who flew the colours of Michelin at the Le Mans 24 Hours.
Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer who brilliantly won the 79th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year, received a mountain bike for the first, and an electric motorcycle for the other two. The three drivers of the Audi R18 # 2 - (they are the #1 this year) had the excited eyes of children discovering their Christmas gifts.
The Swiss driver could leave on his new toy, but the German and Frenchman, had to settle replicas in miniature, as the custom 'cycles could not be ready in time. The machines will be equipped with Michelin tyres, of course!
Benoit Treluyer thanked the team of French manufacturer, "When we're driving and we must attack, we do not ask questions about the tyres because we know we can trust Michelin. Last year, we were able to do five stints with the same tyres, which is incredible. "
