Muller impressive on WEC debut

WEC rookie Nico Muller has described his expectations of racing in the FIA World Endurance championship as he gets ready to make his debut in Shanghai this weekend.

The Audi DTM driver has impressed during the first two days of running in China, and will start today’s 6 Hours of Shanghai on the front row of the LMP2 grid in the No.26 G-Drive Racing challenger.

This was despite limited running and practice ahead of the penultimate round of the 2017 WEC this weekend.

“I did ten laps last month at Portimao just to get comfortable in the car but that is all I had ahead of coming here,” said Muller.  “I have really enjoyed it and the car has felt nice but we will have to see how the long runs go in the race tomorrow.

"I’ve had great support from the team with my teammates who are both doing good jobs so far.  My lap in quali was ok but I made a mistake in Turn Eight and gave a few tenths away. I think we can have really good race tomorrow."

Muller has so far been impressed with the WEC and believes it is the pinnacle of endurance competition.

“The WEC looks really good here. I’ve watched races on TV, of course, but to be here you know you are racing at the highest level in this type of racing."
